Our People

Johannes 'Boetie' Kotzé took over the farm from his father, Gerrit Kotzé, in 1996.  His wife, Liezl joined him on the farm in 1999.  Together they have combined their strengths to grow the farm into the successful business it is today.

 

They have recruited a hardworking and dedicated management team who provide guidance to the pack house, orchard, quality control and irrigation leadership teams.

Platkloof currently employs about 30 permanent employees with the addition of 400 seasonal workers that join the team, from December until March, during the harvest season. During this period 300 employees work in the packing facility, and 100 help in the orchard with harvesting.

 

We provide accommodation to all our permanent staff and the seasonal workers are housed in hostels during their period of employment

 

Our employees can also make use of the day-care facility on the farm which accommodates up to 40 children during peak season. Here all the children between 2 months and 8 years receive supervision and care and 3 balanced meals per day, which take their cultural preferences into account.
